Spring Break: Grad Student Style

Guys.

It’s Spring Break. You know what that means, right?! Beaches! Sunshine! Road trips!

Oh wait…I’m a grad student + I have a full time job.

I did decide to take some time off work (!!!), but only so I could work on The Epic Project(s). Here is my “Spring Break” (although, if you look at the syllabus that my prof. handed out at the beginning of the semester, you’ll see “Spring Work Week”) at a glance:

Monday

• Worked.
• Panicked about The Epic Project.
• Frantically emailed animal shelters about The Epic Project.
• Fell into bed, because I was still exhausted from the weekend.

Tuesday

• Worked.
• Went into full panic mode regarding The Epic Project.
• Conducted 3 interviews.
• Fell into bed, because I couldn’t sleep Monday night.

Wednesday

• Took the day off.
• Woke up at 6:15, got ready, went to the store, dropped my car off at Rick’s (stupid brake issue), cleaned the house a little, ate breakfast, and sat down to get to work (all before 8:30).
• Transcribed 1 hella-long interview.
• Conducted 4 interviews.

Thursday

• Took the day off.
• Woke up at 6:15, and was ready to start being productive by 7:30
• Transcribed 2 interviews.
• Emailed 2 potential participants.
• Scheduled 1 interview.
• Pulled out the NPO article I’m trying to submit for publication since I haven’t even looked at it in over a month.
• Picked up car from Rick’s.
• Watched it snow.

It’s really too soon to tell what kind of fun I’ll have tomorrow, but I’m sure it will be in the same vein as all of the other days…sigh…

It’ll all be worth it, right?

The Purpose of Short-Sleeved Sweaters

Short-sleeved sweaters were invented for days like today. It’s 70 degrees outside, but you don’t want to wear spring clothes because it’s January and you will look like an idiot if you step out wearing a light-weight t-shirt.
